Heres whats up with the witches: they live in the Witch Kingdom to the west of the mountains. The witch then ruins everything by trying to kill Celaena, but Celaena manages to cut off her head. Celaena believes this even though it is only partially true. She knows most of the kings enemies are the good guys, so she is faking their deaths and helping them sneak out of Adarlan. Not that Celaenas really being the Champion so much as playing the part: as soon as the first chapter cut away before the murder I knew she wasnt really killing people. Also, the king has magic just like Dorian. Hmmm. Celaena sees this, knocks Dorian out, and follows Chaol and the monster. Celaenas dog chases the creature into the portal. Open and close Wyrdgates I get that they wanted to keep the keys away from Erawan, but it was just such a wasted opportunity. It is capable of opening portals into different worlds, or destroying them altogether. While Nehemia trusts Celaena, Archer does not, especially due to her relationship with Chaol. Celaena surprises Chaol with a romantic dinner for his birthday, and they spend the night together but decide to keep their relationship secret so as not to upset Dorian, who is also Chaols best friend. The witch says the riddle describes the three Wyrdkeys necessary to open the Wyrdgate. Celaena eventually manages to get them to safety. Before she gets knocked out by another guard, Celaena tells Chaol he will always be her enemy. Also, Nehemia knew about the tomb even before Celaena brought her there. One day, Chaol goes missing. It turns out the three things in the riddle are three Wyrdkeys to open the Wyrdgate (to other realms). One of them is the Amulet of Orynth and the second one is what Kaltain cut out of her arm and gave to Elide, like you said . Prelude (from Empire of Storms by Sarah J.
