Opportunities remain to improve the quality and transparency of Defences publicly reported information regarding materiel sustainment, while being sensitive to national security concerns. An alternative approach is to manage a total project budget that includes employee expenses. The cut was subsequently referred to within DMO as a harvesting of fat within the products readily absorbed by relevant Systems Program Offices and Divisions.103 The CEO DMO also wrote to the CEOs of companies undertaking sustainment work for DMO seeking their support.
