Individual Counseling

More than ever, children, adolescents, and young adults are struggling to manage their stress and maintain their mental health in today’s fast-paced and demanding learning environments. While schools and colleges are usually able to provide some social-emotional counseling supports, often these supports are provided too infrequently and are not intensive enough to adequately meet the student’s needs.

The counseling and psychotherapy provided at EdPsych East Bay goes beyond the scope of traditional school counseling support.  Your child will receive evidence-based psychotherapy and skills training designed specifically for the presenting problem. With 30 years of experience in counseling and psychotherapy, Deborah is highly skilled in the psychological treatment of anxiety disorders, major depressive disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder in children, adolescents, and adults

Deborah has training and experience in several treatment modalities, including Cognitive-Behavior Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). She has also received formal training in The Zones of Regulation Program, which is frequently used in schools and private clinics to address difficulties with emotional and behavioral regulation in children, particularly those with Autism or Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Her counseling approach utilizes positive psychology, mindfulness, and skills-building to ensure that positive change can be maintained in the long term.
